The 1989 Tag

So I have a little secret. I’m a huge Taylor Swift fan. I practically played Red until the disc wore down and now I have 1989 on a loop. In fact, I’ve even booked tickets for me and a friend to see her at Hyde Park musical festival next summer! I’m so excited and can’t wait to spend a few days with a good friend exploring and seeing Taylor perform – it’s really made me look forward to next summer (and I loathe hot weather!).

I came across Jennie’s post a while back and just had to borrow this meme to fill in for myself. So, here we go:

1. Welcome to New York. If you could live in any city, which would it be and why?
London, London, London. Obviously. There’s no other city on Earth that calls to me as much as this one. The more I visit there the more I feel at home. I know that perhaps once I’ve lived there for a while the shine will start to fade for me but as long as I can say that I’ve been there and tried my best to experience such a momentous location I’ll be happy enough.

2. Blank Space. What is something that everyone thinks is true about you but is actually false?
I don’t have any rumours that have followed me in life apart from one that was spread rather viciously by my first boyfriend when I was seventeen and I ain’t gonna be repeating that claptrap here. I hate to give off the impression that I’m lazy, sometimes I struggle to get tasks done in a day or do something a little backwards. My thought process for some things seems to be wired a little differently so I have to make things a bit literal for myself to understand but when I really put my mind to something I do deliver – I just don’t think I do that enough to prove as such.

3. Style. What is one item in your closet that makes you feel unstoppable?
A pair of Chelsea boots that were far too overpriced for saying they were out of season from New Look last summer. There’s a pretty deep scuff on the left shoe from where I foolishly decided to wear them practically brand new on a night out and then tripped up somewhere in a cherry vodka haze. I love wearing them because they feel so on style and it’s not often – as a larger lady – that I can buy items of clothing that are fashionable and figure flattering. But they’re shoes, how do they make your bum look smaller you say? Well, I can just chuck these boots on with a nice little smock dress or a pair of skinny jeans still feel pretty rad regardless of how big my arse is being on that particular day.

4. Out of the Woods. What is one thing that you’re afraid of?
Being alone. I used to be scared of being lonely but then I realised that even when I was living with my ex-partner I was still feeling quite neglected – but that just goes to show the measure of the relationship really. Now, as a singleton in my mid-twenties I’m more scared that I’ve had my shot at finding ‘the one’ or something lame like that and I’m going to be getting on years down the line and all my friends will be happily married with kids and I’ll be still snuggling up to a takeaway and my electric blanket on a weekend. I think I’m just more scared that I was given something amazing and I ruined it, so I won’t find a companion like that ever again. Oh and I’m stupid-scared of dying too.

5. All You Had To Do Was Stay. Who is someone you wish was still in your life?
Well this is pretty relevant to my last answer isn’t it? I would say hand on heart without a doubt my ex, but just as the best friend he was. But then reality kicks in and I’m just like, nah. It wouldn’t be the same. But yeah, I just miss having that person who was my best mate in my life just to call up and share stories with on the night. That’s all.

6. Shake It Off. What is something you have had to shake off?
Wow, I’ve had some quite bad experiences in some situations where people have under-minded me or made me feel useless. I now usually take things ‘with a pinch of salt’ or if it’s really upset me have a little five minute cry and then get over it pretty quickly. I’m the sort of person where I just need a little emotional outlet and then I’m totally fine.

7. I Wish You Would. What is something you’d like to happen right now?
Uhhhmmm. Well right now as I type this I’m sitting in a pub waiting for a friend and the man sitting next to me keeps showing me his Facebook pictures even though we are complete strangers. Presently, I would quite like it if he would stop flashing his phone at me every five minutes – there’s only so many times I can feign interest in his bad lads weekend snaps.

8. Bad Blood. Have you ever had someone stab you in the back?
I haven’t ever been properly stabbed in the back by anyone but my friendship has been abused a couple of times down to hearsay. I generally make a habit of keeping out of drama and don’t keep up with people who thrive on on it – life’s too short for that crap.

9. Wildest Dreams. What would you like to be remembered for?
Sometimes I have really odd sayings that I think up going around in my head and they get posed as quotes as if out of an autobiography of my life. I kind of have this image of myself being this influential person whose creative ideas have meaning to people and help them make choices in their own life. With that influence I’d love to leave behind a book of really great advice that people can read and just think: ‘she’s so right!’.

10. How You Get The Girl. What is your favourite pick-up line?
It’s corny but it makes me laugh and I always think of it first when I need a pick up line off of the tip of my tongue: ‘are your feet tired, because you’ve been running through my mind all night?’

11. This Love. What is something you got back that you never thought you would?
Nothing I can recall straight off. My Doctor Who series one boxset discs would be pretty rad though.

12. I Know Places. Where is one place you always feel safe?
Tucked up under the covers of my bed. When I moved back in with my parents I brought a new quilt and sheets so my bed feels completely like mine. Ain’t no monsters gonna be getting me in the middle of the night.

13. Clean. What is an important lesson you have learned in life, and how did you learn it?
The most important lesson I’ve ever learnt in life is just to be myself. This includes following my heart (or listening to my gut instinct) and not letting anyone change the person I am deep inside. Yes I’ve been a little too aggressive with pursuing this ethos in the past but really it’s a simple matter of staying true to myself.

Those are my answers to this really thought-provoking meme and I’ve really enjoyed filling it out. Now, I tag you to give your responses and post the links below.
